Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer are business and civic leaders in the Bowling Green community. Robert earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1965 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1968. He served as a Wood County prosecuting attorney and is an attorney and partner at his private practice, Maurer, Newlove & Bakies, LLC.
Robert and Patricia own Greenbriar, Inc., a rental-management development company with a broad portfolio of residential and commercial properties throughout northwest Ohio. For more than four decades, Patricia has managed the real estate company and led accounting services for the various apartment complexes, mobile home communities, and commercial and industrial rentals.
The Maurers have generously supported the University through a variety of philanthropic ventures including the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center, the new home of the Schmidthorst College of Business opening in fall 2020. They also created an Accounting Chair at BGSU in 2010. They are members of The Presidents Club, the 1910 Society, The Cornerstone Club and Falcon Club. Robert serves as a member of the Leadership Council for University Libraries.
In the Bowling Green community, the Maurers have been supporters of the Wood County Library, the Wood County Hospital, the American Red Cross and various other organizations. They were named Northwest Ohio Outstanding Philanthropist in 2011. In 2014, they helped create the Maurer Family Cancer Care Center at the Wood County Hospital.
