Edson R. "Ted" Arneault, '69
Mr. Arneault has a long history of significantly growing businesses. Starting as a Certified Public Accountant and a partner of a major national public accounting firm, Arneault took the first leap in his successful entrepreneurial career as the CEO of a growing oil and gas company, Century Well Service. Subsequently, in the early 1990’s he took on the leadership of the Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort in West Virginia. The organization was on the brink of economic disaster, but under his leadership and drive a strategy was implemented on the organization that resulted in a dramatic turnaround.
In 2001, his company was named as one of the nation’s best small companies by Forbes Magazine. This same year Arneault was named as Entrepreneur of the Year in the state of West Virginia. In 2008, Mr. Arneault stepped out of his role as chairman, CEO and president of the MTR Gaming Group at a time when this publically-traded company had operations in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Minnesota. Mr. Arneault has also focused a portion of his time to creating opportunities for the region’s youth by founding the Mountaineer Futures Scholarship Program.
