Al Caperna ('76)
Al Caperna has founded and grew numerous companies since receiving his BA degree from Bowling Green State University in 1976. His companies have produced a variety of patents, been elected into Inc.’s “500 honor roll” and have been recognized as some of the fastest growing private businesses in America. Al currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of CMC Group, Bowling Green, Ohio, the parent company of Century Marketing, Century Marketing Wholesale, DayMark Safety Systems and NovaVision.
His companies manufacture a wide array of print and recycling materials and systems, including food date coding systems, a printing equipment supplier of thermal and laser printers, and print holograms. This group of companies represents one of the largest label and tag businesses in the world. He was named a Master Entrepreneur by Ernst and Young in 1995 and currently he is leading a new venture, Affirm Global Development. This initiative is working to empower entrepreneurs globally in setting up businesses and helping to end economic poverty.
Al serves on numerous boards, including New Hope Christian Community Foundation, Bowling Green Covenant Church, and the Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio. He is a member of the Schmidthorst College of Business Board of Advocates. He is an avid supporter of numerous community organizations, including Bowling Green Bobcat Hockey, and Adopt America Network.
