School Counselors

⚠️ Update: BGSU has transitioned our Counselor Portal to Slate.org. You will need to create a Slate.org account to upload transcripts and other official documents. With this change we're excited to be able to share student application checklists, scholarship information, student next step progress and more. Create your account or log in today! (Slate.org staff are currently taking about 1 week to approve initial school users - we apologize for any delays.)

Welcome!

It's not easy to guide students through the college search process, which is why we've enhanced our school counselor portal. Here you'll find the handy tool to upload credentials for your students, review details about test optional admission, visit information, scholarships, cost of attendance, and more at your fingertips. As always, please reach out to me, Erin Heilmeier, Assistant Vice President & Director of Admissions, or the BGSU Admissions Counselor assigned to your school/region if you have questions, but I hope you find this resource useful.

The BGSU Office of Admissions accepts documents uploaded through Slate.org as official, even if they lack a signature or school seal, as only verified users have access to upload documents. If uploading documents through the Slate.org, please do not send duplicate copies via email, postal mail, Common Application, fax, etc.

  • Note: if your student did not apply to BGSU via the Common App, please do not try to send their credentials to us via the Common App. We won’t receive them through that method if they applied through our Falcon Application.

We understand that every student is going to approach their college journey in a different way. While we will gladly accept ACT or SAT scores, we understand that not all students have been able to take and/or want to submit an ACT or SAT score. Therefore, Bowling Green State University is offering applicants the opportunity to have their applications reviewed without consideration of test scores. Below you will find frequently asked questions about what this process looks like. Please call the Office of Admissions at 419-372-2478 to ask specific questions about individual situations.

Test Optional FAQ

The surest way for a student to get a scholarship offer is to apply to BGSU! Once they’re admitted, BGSU will begin making scholarship offers based on a comprehensive review of the application with our merit-based University Freshman Academic Scholarship ranging from $1,000 to upward of $9,500. Additional scholarship opportunities are available through the searchable scholarship guide.

We're offering a variety of in-person visit options, so your students can learn more about living and learning here at BGSU. Between on-campus events and select virtual information sessions to complement their college search, students will be able to explore BGSU their way all year. From scholarships to majors (and everything in between) – we're designing events with them in mind.

Resources for Your Students

Please join us in encouraging your students to participate in our in-person visits and events along with our virtual information sessions to make the most of their college search.

On this site, students will find a full offering of our on-campus visits and events. This includes our daily visits to campus along with academic specific larger visit days. This is a great place for students to start!

While research has shown in-person visits are one of the best ways to determine if a college is a good fit for a student, we realize that virtual opportunites can better fit into busy schedules. This site offers a full calendar of offerings including admissions, scholarships, financial aid and academic presentations.

Students who are new to BGSU or just starting their college search should start with the Go BG! Admissions Information Session. This is the first step to learning more about BGSU.

Every student interested in BGSU has a team of representatives ready to help. Their Admissions Counselor is ready to provide information about applying, financial aid, housing and next steps. Looking for more information about a major or program? Students can connect with the representative from the major(s) they’re interested in – they’re part of the BGSU College Search Team, too, and are offering virtual one-on-one appointments, information sessions, tours and more.

Want a view of your future BGSU home? Our 360° tours allow you to see residence hall rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and more.
