Comments from New Teachers who Took our Alternative Resident Educator Program (AREP)
"I am so happy that I found BGSU. The courses were relevant and interesting, and my professors were people who had lots of public school teaching experience. I finally am doing what I was meant to do - teach! "
"BGSU's Alternative program was everything I could have asked for when I was looking at available options. My faculty mentor was awesome and incredibly knowledgeable. I received help anytime I have needed it and the entire process was very clearly laid out and explained."
"This program helped me achieve my teaching license through some pretty crazy circumstances. BGSU faculty were beyond helpful, compassionate and knowledgeable in getting me through the program. BG’s program provides the pedagogy and close mentoring support."
"I was brought to BGSU because their program was well reviewed and compliant with the requirements established by the ODE. Now a graduate, I will forever be proud of being a Falcon as I felt so supported by my BGSU faculty mentors while completing the program."
"The support was great. I felt like I knew my mentor and they were able and willing to support me 24/7. The information in the courses was both interesting and relevant. I would be frustrated by something I saw in the classroom and then often the next week, I would read about it in my coursework and discuss it with my mentor."
The BGSU alternative resident educator graduate certificate lets current teachers under the initial alternative resident educator (ARE) certificate program qualify for the coursework element of the Professional Teacher License from the State of Ohio.
If you are an Ohio teacher currently teaching in Ohio schools and have completed the Intensive Pedagogical Training Institute (IPTI) or the Alternative Resident Educator Institute (AREI), this flexible, online post-baccalaureate certificate program is for you.
