Artist's Statement

Catharsis

Depression is a black and restless sea. It resonates as emotional and biographical as the turmoil in my life takes form in this series of drawings. The work serves as a record of my illness while encompassing a quest for catharsis through the energy of the natural world. I use my drawings as an extension of my being to explore the ongoing struggle between harmony and chaos. This series of work illustrates the ever changing and always unpredictable way that depression has governed my life.
