Internships
Students choosing this specialization are encouraged to participate in undergraduate research to gain a stronger understanding of how the frontiers of knowledge in the various health related areas are broadened and deepened. The Office of Pre-Professional Programs on the BGSU campus assists students in obtaining internships, shadowing, and volunteer experiences as well as professional entrance exam preparation.
Curriculum
The pre-health biology specialization requires a full year each of organic chemistry and physics, a semester of biochemistry, and individual courses in microbiology, economics, psychology, sociology, and/or statistics, as required by the graduate program of choice. Advising professionals guide pre-health biology students to identify courses required by professional schools and inform them about the application process, specific admissions tests, and curricular as well as co-curricular activities that enhance their competitive edge when applying to professional schools.

Quality classroom experiences
Undergraduates have the opportunity to engage in discovery-based research through two experiential learning courses offered in the biological sciences. Laboratories for both courses of anatomy and physiology are taught in Moseley Hall, a newly renovated building with state-of-the-art facilities for teaching.
The Pre-Health Biology program is part of the Department of Biological Sciences in the BGSU College of Arts and Sciences.
