Artist's Statement

In order to create a sense of the anxiety and fear I experience everyday I have created three characters who represent three driving internal forces that influence my decision making: mind, body, and soul. The characters create tension between the viewers and themselves as they glare at the audience for varying lengths of time, then glance back and forth at each other. This unsettling gesture unnerves the audience and the interactions between the characters and the audience creates a power structure that is based upon who the viewer and characters are looking at. The power differential that the viewers internalize will create the feeling of anxiety that I experience between my mind body and soul.
