The past year challenged us, but we embraced our role as a 21st-century public university for the public good and launched FORWARD., a guiding strategy defined by action. Tao Xin '94 named Abbott Researcher of the Year for creating antibodies used in coronavirus rapid test
Tao Xin, a 1994 BGSU graduate who earned a Master of Science in biological sciences, led the Abbott team in Carlsbad, California, that developed the antibodies used in the company’s BinaxNOWTM COVID-19 test. The rapid test identifies antigens, or proteins of the virus, that can be detected when a person is infected with the COVID-19 virus.

Carl Sandifer '05 helps power NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover mission
NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover touched down at 3:55 p.m. Feb. 18, culminating a dream for Carl Sandifer ’05 that started at Bowling Green State University nearly 20 years ago. The BGSU alumnus is the deputy chief of the Space Science Project Office at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland.
