The past year challenged us, but we embraced our role as a 21st-century public university for the public good and launched FORWARD., a guiding strategy defined by action. We've identified 21 moments during 2020-21 that moved us forward and will continue to make us better. Each of these moments, or actions, are positioning Bowling Green State University and our students for success.

Moment No. 8 – we can belong. BGSU aspires to be an engaged learning community where each member belongs and is inspired to achieve excellence. Over the past year, BGSU has come together, starting conversations, celebrating our differences and focusing our intentionality to become the community we aspire to be so that all belong.

As discussions of race, justice and culture merged during the election cycle, BGSU brought students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members together virtually to discuss racial issues. All were invited to listen, talk and learn as active participants in an effort to outline and confront the challenges we face as we seek the best avenue for raising awareness and dealing with racial issues.

BGSU launched a spring speaker series, "Beyond the Dream", to highlight cultures across campuses through academic conferences, musicians and guest speakers.
