The past year challenged us, but we embraced our role as a 21st-century public university for the public good and launched FORWARD., a guiding strategy defined by action. We've identified 21 moments during 2020-21 that moved us forward and will continue to make us better. Each of these moments, or actions, are positioning Bowling Green State University and our students for success. Moment number one—we fundraised to increase scholarships. Through historic donor support, we are helping to make higher education attainable.
Falcons help BGSU One Day soar to new heights
More than $1.4 million in support was raised during Bowling Green State University's fifth annual day of giving on April 6-7. Over 2,830 gifts were contributed to the $1,458,247 total – nearly doubling the number of gifts made in BGSU One Day 2020.

BGSU receives largest gift in its history to expand existing Thompson scholarship programs

The $27 million gift from philanthropists Robert and Ellen (Bowen) Thompson will provide thousands of future students with greater access to a BGSU education through life-changing scholarships that support students from working families, military backgrounds and high-potential students with significant financial need.

BGSU celebrates history-making Changing Lives for the World fundraising campaign
Launched in 2014, the Changing Lives for the World campaign raised $255 million in total, with $101.7 million raised for scholarships and student aid. Bowling Green State University successfully concluded the largest comprehensive fundraising endeavor in its history.

Owens Corning Foundation announces $1 million gift to create scholarships for BGSU students
Bowling Green State University has announced the receipt of a transformational $1 million gift from the Owens Corning Foundation to create scholarships for underrepresented students in the School of the Built Environment within BGSU’s College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering. The Owens Corning Scholars Program will support students studying architecture, construction management, or other majors in the building sciences field.
