Communities of Practice

Each academic year, the Center for Faculty Excellence works with our Faculty Associates and campus partners to develop and deliver innovative and timely Communities of Practice. CFE Communities of Practice include book clubs, writing groups, podcast listening clubs, learning communities, and other semester and year-long learning opportunities. CFE Communities of Practice are open to all BGSU faculty members, adjunct instructors, graduate students, and administrative and classified staff members, unless noted otherwise.

Community Participant Expectations

As a member of a CFE Community of Practice, you are expected to:

  • Meet the community learning outcomes.
  • Actively participate in and attend at least 80% of all scheduled community meetings (or meet the participation requirement determined by the facilitator).
  • Complete any assignments and/or asynchronous tasks.
  • Complete any necessary deliverable activities or projects as determined by the facilitator.

Funds-Eligible Learning Communities

All participants in funds-eligible learning communities will be required to complete a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the beginning of the semester stating that they understand the participant expectations for the community they are participating in. Upon successfully meeting the participant expectations, participants in funds-eligible learning communities will receive $100 at the conclusion of the semester that they participate in the community. Participants must currently be employed by a department at BGSU to be eligible to receive the funds.

Community Registration

Registration for Spring 2025 Communities of Practice is now closed. Registration for Communities of Practice starting in Fall 2025 will open at the beginning of the Fall 2025 semester.
