Jobs in Psychology

Many students have questions about the job opportunities they will have with a degree in psychology. About 40% of psychology majors will go on to graduate school, whether in psychology or another field. To work independently as a therapist, you will most likely need to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree, though there are many jobs that involve helping others that are attainable with a bachelor’s degree such as case manager, intervention specialist, or psychology technician.

In addition, organizations across many fields prize the critical, analytic, and communication skills that you acquire as a psychology major. There are jobs for psychology majors in child-care, health-related areas, industry, research settings, senior living centers, and social service agencies. In addition, a degree in psychology is excellent preparation for a career in sales, business, human resources, and for any job that requires interpersonal contact.
