Talking
Oil on paper
30” x 22”
During this time of quarantine and self-isolation, the way humankind socializes has shifted drastically. Using this as a time to reflect, and seeing the changes in our society, I view this work as an observation. I think the cropping and the poses are recognizably seen as an image on the screens of our phones. The portraits are captured through digital eyes, and with that comes a sense of disconnection. Video chats are imperfect replications of a social interaction. These individuals are alone, regardless if they are talking to each other, boxed inside of their own spaces.
