JACO: Ron Jacomini Memorial Exhibition
JACO: RON JACOMINI MEMORIAL EXHIBITION
Professor Emeritus, Graphic Design
September 28-October 11
Willard Wankelman Gallery
BGSU Fine Arts Center
The Division of Graphic Design and the School of Art are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the former chair of the program, Ron Jacomini. To many, he was known simply as Jaco and was an educator who brought out the best in his students. He was an innovator and transformer of the School of Art by creating the photography program and chairing the graphic design division for nearly two decades. During his leadership of the graphic design program, the enrollment and faculty grew along with a standard for design excellence that continues today.
Jaco was an organized, kind, talented, and direct professor with an eagle eye for craft, detail, and execution. His expectations were high, challenging students to deliver on those high standards. Long after graduation, Jaco supported his former students by connecting them to job opportunities, extending their design networks, and staying connected to their progress. For many, he was the connector to BGSU across so many graduating graphic design alums.
Jaco passed on December 19, 2023. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and work. The BGSU School of Art is proud to host Jaco's work in the Willard Wankelman Gallery from September 28 - October 11 in celebration of his life. Thanks to his wife, Sandy Jacomini, and children, Andrea and Vincent, for their tireless efforts in making this exhibition possible.
