Tom Snitch

Tom Snitch '75, '15 (Hon.)

During Dr. Tom Snitch's 49 years in Washington, D.C., he served at NASA as the international manager for the Galileo Mission to Jupiter. At the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, he served as the U.S. National Nuclear Officer for North Korea and South Africa. President Reagan named him a senior member of the White House Arms Control Delegation to Geneva for the START and INF talks with the Soviet Union. He then became the Senior Staff Director of the National Academy of Science.

In the private sector, Snitch has worked in the C-suites of Lockheed Martin, Hitachi, Microsoft Asia, Coca-Cola Japan, OneWeb, CH2MHill and GeoEye.

From 2011-2016, Snitch served as Chairman of the Board of the Univeristy of Maryland's College of Computing, Mathematical and Natural Sciences and held a Distinguished Senior Professorship in Maryland's Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.

His academic research focuses on using high resolution satelite imagery, UAVs, and mathematical modeling to address transnational crime and global environmental issues. From 2011-2013, he was one of the U.S. leads working on remediation at the Fukushima nuclear site. In 2014, he was the first person to fly UAV night drone missions in Africa.

Snitch holds a B.A. in Chinese, M.A. degrees in Japanese and developmental economics, and a Ph.D. in mathematical international economics. He did his postdoctoral work in nuclear and reactor physics at Oak Ridge and Los Alamos National Laboratories.

He has been awarded a Meritorious Service Award from the Government of Japan and was named by the Emperor as "One of Japan's 150 Best Friends in the World."

Amy Yejo '93

Amy Yejo is a 1993 BGSU graduate with a B.A. in International Studies. During her four years at BGSU, she studied abroad in Nantes and Tours, France, and was involved in many international and domestic clubs and organizations offered through the University.

After graduation, Amy began her international business career in the Akron area working for two different companies before moving to Atlanta, GA in the late 1990’s to work for the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism – International Trade Division. With the move to the larger international market, Amy gained valuable experience in both government and business, lived abroad in Central America, and traveled the World. For the past 23 years, she has worked for a privately held, international commodity trading company in many roles.

Del-Vaunte Scott

Del-Vaunté Scott '14, '18

Del-Vaunté Scott has been working in the education field for 10 years, teaching for elementary, middle school, college, and private levels in programming for language acquisition. He has a B.A. in international studies with a minor in Spanish, an M.A. in cross-cultural and international education, and graduate certificates in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). He is currently working on a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership. Scott prioritizes language acquisition and intercultural development/competency as major foundational components to his pedagogical practices and operations.

Eve Cervenka

Eve Cervenka '20

Eve Cervenka is a 2020 alumna of the BGSU International Studies program, having focused in Peace and Conflict Studies and minored in Chinese and Political Science. In 2019 she had the opportunity to study abroad for a semester in Chengdu, China, which was the highlight of her college career. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University. She is currently a grant writer at CHN Housing Partners, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affordable housing developer and service provider in Cleveland, OH. She is excited to share her experiences with current International Studies students.
