Saul Flores is a Mexican-Salvadoran award winning speaker, photojournalist, and storyteller. In 2010, Flores, then an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University, decided to walk 5,328 miles from Ecuador to the United States to create a “photo documentary” that showcased the experiences and challenges faced by migrants taking this journey. What started as a project to provide a more human-centered look at migration and to help raise funds to rebuild a school in his mother’s hometown of Atencingo, Mexico became the basis for his career as a speaker and philanthropist.

Flores has been featured as a keynote speaker at hundreds of colleges and universities, and his speeches have been recognized for helping students reflect on their values, develop their leadership skills, and identify actions that can take to practice their values on campus and in their communities. Following the rebuilding of the school in his mother’s hometown, Flores founded the company MAMA Sugar in collaboration with sugarcane workers and their families in Puebla, Mexico.

His work has been featured on National Public Radio, MSNBC, and TEDX. Additionally, Flores has inspired audiences at hundreds of colleges and universities to realize the capacity of their immense human potential given times of extreme adversity.

The 2026 LIC Keynote Speech is to take place on March 18, 2026.
