Summer Start

Get a Jump Start on your Flight Training

BGSU's Aviation Program offers a unique opportunity for incoming freshmen to start during the summer versus waiting until the fall. Ohio's weather is great for summer flights and scheduling air time! Students considering this option should plan on beginning their flight training as close to May 13, 2024 as possible. This page provides a wealth of knowledge on this exciting opportunity.

Steps to Start this Summer

Interested students looking to start this Summer must complete an online interest form, found here.

Each student's financial situation is different. Before moving forward, we highly encourage students and their families to consult with Student Financial Aid to understand any impact to their financial aid packages by attending BGSU over the summer. BGSU's Office of Student Financial Aid can be reached by calling 419-372-2651.

Once a student is ready to commit to switch their entry term from the fall to the summer, please email aviation@bgsu.edu or give us a call at 419-372-9457 indicating that you would like to proceed.

Students who change their entry term from fall to summer will have a registration hold placed on their account. In order for the hold to be removed, students will need to supply a letter confirming their upcoming high school graduation (typically from your high school guidance counselor) or their final high school transcript (with their graduation date on it) once graduation is completed.

Graduation confirmation letters and transcripts need to be sent to BGSU's Office of Admissions.
