December 2020 Press Release

Safe Communities announced today that there have been eleven fatal crashes in Wood County this year compared to eleven at this time last year.

Stop Speeding Before it Stops You

Our goal is to save lives on Wood County Roads. Drivers need to be alert, watch for speed limit signs and obey those signs, especially in school zones, in residential neighborhoods and on secondary roads. Drivers need to remember that there is a reason for posted speed limits. The roadways are a dangerous place and the speed limits are designed to protect everyone – drivers, passengers, pedestrians – everyone!

In 2019, 371 of the total crashes involved speed. 2020 to date 262 crashes have involved speed.  The reduction in crashes is indeed attractive, but we need to do better.

Every Trip, Every Time you need to stop speeding before it stops you.
