Student Recitals
Student Degree Recitals (DMA, MM, Undergraduate, Certificate) and Non-Degree Joint Student Recitals held in Bryan Hall will be recorded (audio and video) and livestreamed to the CMA's YouTube Channel at no charge.
Student Degree Recitals (DMA, MM, Undergraduate, Certificate) and Non-Degree Joint Student Recitals held in the Choral Rehearsal Hall (MMAC 1040), Conrad Room (Wolfe Center), or another venue within the Moore Musical Arts Center or Wolfe Center will be recorded, audio only, at no charge. Video recording and livestreaming are not available in these venues.
Once a Student Recital has been officially scheduled on the CMA's event calendar, Recording Services will automatically staff a recording engineer to the event. As of Fall 2024, it is no longer necessary to contact Recording Services to schedule a Student Recital recording.
Student Recital recordings are produced with a stereo microphone pair and a fixed wide camera shot of the full stage. As these are archival recordings, there is no editing, effects processing, filters, titles, or other alteration available. For the audio, you will receive separate files for each piece on your program unless it is more practical to deliver the audio in larger sections. For the video, you will receive one continuous file of the entire performance, including any stage changes, downtime, and intermissions.
Two weeks after the performance, a link to the recordings will be emailed to the featured student(s). It is the featured student's responsibility to share this link with ensemble members, if desired. Recording Services will automatically send the digital masters of the performance to the Music Library. Please download these files immediately, as the download link will not remain active indefinitely. Due to the large volume of events, we cannot rush-deliver a recording.
FAQ:
I have a large technical setup for my recital. How can I make sure everything works correctly?
The CMA only provides a 30-minute pre-concert window for most Student Recitals. This makes large technical setups impractical, and usually impossible. If you have a large technical setup that you feel requires support from Recording Services, please contact Michael Laurello, Manager of Recording Services (mlaurel@bgsu.edu) at least one month before your event to discuss options.
I need to use the Bryan Hall projector for my recital. Can Recording Services do this for me?
No, but the Bryan Hall projection system is available for CMA students and faculty to use as they wish. The system is accessible via an Extron touch panel and HDMI input on the rear stage wall. There is typically an HDMI cable backstage, but it is wise to bring a backup HDMI cable along with any adapters your laptop may require. The Recording Services engineer cannot advance slides or assist with projections during the recital. Please Note: Apple brand adapters work unreliably on the Bryan Hall projection system. If you are using a Mac for your projections, and have been experiencing issues with your Mac video adapter and the Bryan projector, please let us know and we will do our best to provide a compatible adapter when you arrive.
I'm planning an off-campus Student Recital. Will Recording Services be there?
No. Recording Services can only support venues within the Moore Musical Arts Center or Wolfe Center.
