Why Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies:

As an undergraduate student at BGSU I worked in the athletics department and when it was time to pursue a master’s degree there was no doubt in my mind that I would stay in Bowling Green and apply for the Sport Management masters program. I started the program part time while I worked full-time in Athletic Marketing and eventually decided to enroll full-time. The faculty members were encouraging and supportive of my academic and research pursuits. I was able to explore a number of areas of the sports industry and it was during my assistantship in the Office of Student-Athlete Services I was able to apply what I was learning in class to supporting the Falcon student athletes. I eventually went on to be the Director of SAS and a member of the Athletic Department Senior Staff. Throughout my journey professionally and academically the HMSLS faculty have continued to have a positive impact in my life. I am forever grateful for their commitment to developing students and shaping them to be leaders in the sports industry.

Why Human Movement, Sport and Leisure Studies

"The HMSLS program was, and will always be, home for me. The sport administration program and the faculty have had tremendous impact on me professionally, academically and personally. The connections I made through HMSLS have elevated me in my career and have stuck with me to this day. As a result of my coursework, research and graduate assistantship experience in sport management and student-athlete services, I was able to take a full-time role at Bradley University as their Coordinator of Student-Athlete Services following graduation. There I oversaw a large majority of the support services for student-athletes. In 2013, I left Bradley to pursue a similar role at Arizona State University. I've stayed connected to the program by serving on the Sport Management Advisory Board. This role gave me the opportunity to publish my graduate research with Dr. Paule-Koba after completing the program."

Coordinator of Student Engagement at the W. P. Carey Business Career Center, Arizona State University. Tarrant manages a mentoring program for undergraduate business students in W. P. Carey Business School.
