CFE & CATL Teaching & Learning Spotlight Series

The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Schmidthorst College of Business Committee to Advance Teaching and Learning (CATL) are excited to host a series of Teaching and Learning Spotlights throughout the academic year.

The CFE & CATL Teaching & Learning Spotlight series consists of virtual, informational sessions, featuring speakers from the BGSU community. Each session focuses on a department, service, technology, or strategy that can enhance teaching and support student learning. Each session is 45 minutes and is conducted virtually via Zoom. These events are open to all BGSU faculty members, adjunct instructors, graduate students, and administrative and classified staff members.

January Spotlight: Life Design Overview

Spotlight Speaker: Adrienne Ausdenmoore, Assistant Vice President and Executive Director, Geoffrey H. Radbill Center for College and Life Design

Are you curious about Life Design at BGSU? During this session, you will learn more about the BGSU Life Design program and how they are empowering students to navigate their college experience inside and outside the classroom.

During this session, you will learn how to:

  • Identify the mindsets of Life Design and the design thinking process
  • Discuss how BGSU’s Life Design program supports students as they navigate the college experience

February Spotlight: What Can the Kuhlin Hub Do for You?

Spotlight Speaker: Steve Russell, Assistant Vice President & Executive Director, Michael and Sara Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections

Incorporating guest speakers, industry experts, class projects, and other experiential learning into your classroom instruction can yield powerful outcomes… but it’s such a pain sometimes! During this session, you will learn how the new team in the Kuhlin Hub for Career Design & Connections can help support you inside and outside of the classroom through their engagement with industry.  

 During this session, you will learn about:

  • How you can engage with the Kuhlin Hub and request support
  • The types of organizations that have partnered with BGSU and are willing to help
  • Opportunities for you and your classes to engage with organizational partners

March Spotlight: Life Design from the Schmidthorst College of Business Student Perspective: A Panel Discussion

Join the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the Schmidthorst College of Business Committee to Advance Teaching and Learning (CATL) for a panel discussion where Schmidthorst College of Business students share their diverse experiences applying Life Design concepts from BA 1500 both within and beyond the classroom. You can look forward to gaining insights as our student panelists explore the intersection of academics and personal growth, offering real-world anecdotes and reflections. This discussion will provide a glimpse into the unique journey of students designing their own lives.

During this session, you will learn:

  • How Schmidthorst College of Business students’ perspectives on life design have changed after engaging in Life Design concepts from BA 1500 at BGSU.
  • How Schmidthorst College of Business students utilize Life Design academically.
  • How Schmidthorst College of Business students feel Life Design has impacted their lives.
  • Which classroom experiences related to Life Design in BA 1500 have been most valuable to Schmidthorst College of Business students.
