New Academic Year Kickoff Events Engage Students, Faculty, and Staff

new academic yearThe new academic year kicked off with a series of exciting events hosted by the College of Business to welcome students, faculty, staff, and alumni to 2014-2015.  We welcomed our international students with a celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, serving traditional moon cakes and tea.  Students spoke with Dean Ray Braun, faculty, staff, and fellow students and discussed the Chinese culture.

student business organizationStudents discovered the benefits of joining a student business organization by attending the CBA Student Organization Fair in the David J. Joseph Student Hub.  They talked to leaders of more than a dozen organizations and discussed the opportunities to grow professionally and personally by getting involved. Besides learning more about the value added to their college education by joining student organizations, attendees also enjoyed breadsticks and popcorn.

With the inclement weather, the Dean’s Picnic on the Green was moved inside to the David J. Joseph Student Hub. However, it didn’t dampen the spirit of students, faculty, and staff who enjoyed a picnic-style dinner and participated in games. Faculty and staff volunteered to serve the students.

Falcon spiritA celebration of the Falcon spirit was held in Tent City at the football stadium prior to the kickoff of BGSU vs. Indiana. The Dean’s Tailgate gave students a chance to connect with alumni and share in good conversation and camaraderie prior to the game.

The best and brightest students were honored at the College of Business Honors and Awards Reception. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the College was able to provide more than $300,000 in scholarships to assist students in completing their college education. Donors of these scholarships were also recognized and applauded for their support of our students.

Over the next academic year, the College has a large number of events to engage our students, alumni, the business community, faculty, and staff.
