Launch of Business Analytics Case Competition; Students Encouraged to Apply

The Center for Business Analytics is hosting its first Business Analytics Case Competition in 2014. Students are encouraged to get a team of 3 to 4 people and register their team with Dr. Arthur Yeh, chair of the Applied Statistics and Operations Research (ASOR) department by 5:00pm, January 31, 2014. The winning team will receive a $1,000 cash prize to be split among team members. The second and third place teams will receive a cash prize of $600 and $300 per team, respectively.

The competition is open to full-time BGSU students and all majors and consists of two rounds - a written report and an oral presentation. Further instructions of the case competition will be sent to each team via email by Friday, February 14, 2014. Upon receiving detailed instructions, each team will begin to work on the case competition. The written report is due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014.

Based on the written report, three teams will be selected by a panel of judges and notified on Friday, June 28, 2014. For the second round competition, the three finalists will attend the 2014 Best Practices in Business Analytics Symposium in October 2014 at BGSU. During the symposium, each of the three teams will give a formal oral presentation about its analysis to a live audience and a panel of judges.
