Undergraduate Teaching Assistantship
Undergraduate Teaching Assistantship
The Department of History at Bowling Green State University offers an opportunity for undergraduates interested in history to gain on-the-job training as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant.
The assistantship is offered to a rising junior or senior with an interest in history, with a 3.0 grade point average (in general and in history) preferred. Primary responsibilities of the job include meeting with the professor to review class goals, teaching strategies and assistantship duties, attendance at all class sessions, and duties specific to the instructor. These may include: keeping track of student attendance and other record keeping; technology support in the classroom; assistance in small group discussions; classroom presentations; conducting review sessions prior to examinations; helping with field trips; conducting office hours; proctoring examinations; and evaluating (along with the professor) student performance.
Undergraduate students may apply for a teaching assistantship or may be encouraged to apply by a member of the History faculty. Applications should include an unofficial transcript, a resume noting previous teaching experience—if any, eligibility for work study, and a letter of recommendation from at least one BGSU History faculty member.
