Will current classified employees receive an increase based on the new hire rate structure?

The classified compensation project will continue in phases. For this phase of the project, the focus was to allow BGSU to be more competitive in our recruitment efforts. The approach with implementing a new hire tool that recognizes external experience up to 5 years may cause compression issues for selected positions, and HR will address compression on a case-by-case basis, when positions are filled.

Who determines the appropriate starting wage for classified staff new hires?

HR will determine the appropriate starting wage.

I only have enough in my budget to pay the new hire at the minimum of the range. How will the additional funding be covered?

Departmental budgets will be adjusted accordingly for deficits resulting from personnel hired in at the new rate.
