Voluntary Benefits

Securian Financial offers assistance with covering medical and non-medical expenses resulting from an accidental injury or sickness through the available voluntary benefit plans listed below. These plans provide a cost-effective way to complement your major medical insurance by paying cash benefits directly to you, to use however you wish.

The available plans include:

• Accident Insurance (burns, breaks, dislocations, fractures and more)
• Critical Illness Insurance (diagnosis of cancer, heart attack, stroke and more)
• Hospital Indemnity Insurance (hospital stays, including pregnancy labor and delivery)
  

All three available plans offer an included health and wellness benefit. You, your spouse and your children (if enrolled) are each eligible for a $50 health and wellness payment each year when  you are enrolled in any of the following plans. Get paid for several types of wellness screenings, including an annual physical exam.

Bowling Green State University offered voluntary benefit plans to full-time employees for Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity sponsored by Aflac prior to December 31, 2024.

To access and manage your coverage online or to file a claim, visit the Aflac website to register your account.   To submit a claim, click on new claim, answer a few questions and upload your supporting documents. Once the claim is submitted you can track your claim status as it is processing.
