How to apply
Occupational therapy candidates apply for the Bowling Green State University OTD program exclusively through the Occupational Therapist Common Application System (OTCAS). BGSU has a rolling admissions cycle with an August cohort start.
The BGSU OTD program does not require the GRE.
Application steps
- 1. Review BGSU OTD admission requirements and prerequisites. Contact BGSU OTD Admissions if you have any questions regarding your eligibility prior to applying.
- 2. Review instructions for applying through OTCAS before applying to our OTD program. The BGSU OTD program information can be found on the OTCAS Directory page.
- 3. Apply through OTCAS.
These supporting materials must be submitted through OTCAS.
Official transcripts
Applicants must arrange for OTCAS to receive an official transcript from each college and university you attended in the United States and Canada. This includes all institutions where you took a university-level course.
References
Applicants must arrange for references to be submitted electronically through OTCAS. The BGSU OTD program requires at least three letters of recommendation.
- One recommendation must be from an occupational therapist licensed to practice in the United States who has interacted with the applicant in a clinical setting, either through employment or shadowing observation hours.
- You cannot submit references from family, friends, clergy or politicians.
- Each evaluator providing a reference will be contacted using the email address provided in OTCAS by the applicant.
- 4. Accepted applicants to BGSU will be required to apply to the BGSU Graduate College.
A $500 non-refundable seat deposit will be collected prior to enrollment. Applicants with financial hardships may apply to the Graduate College for a seat deposit waiver or exemption.
Students will be notified of any projected additional student charges associated with the verification of student identity at the time of registration or enrollment.
BGSU OTD reviews applications in the order they are received and makes admissions decisions on a rolling basis. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications and all supporting materials as soon as possible in the admissions cycle.
The deadline to apply for the BGSU OTD program can be found on the OTCAS BGSU OTD program page.
The OTD admissions committee and faculty evaluates applicants on:
- Cumulative GPA
- Prerequisite GPA
- Last 60 hours GPA
- Three letters of reference
- Completion of the OTCAS personal statement (Statement of Purpose)
The OTD admissions committee will use this evaluation process to ensure nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all applicants. We accept students into the program based on a holistic evaluation of their application.
Applicants will be notified by email and/or mail regarding final selection decisions.
