Application Process
With the exception of the GRE requirement, the application process is identical for both degree programs as well as non-degree licensure tracks. Consult the list below for an overview of the application process.
All materials listed below are required before a decision can be made regarding admission to the program. A recommendation regarding your admissibility will be made by the Graduate College within 30 days after you have submitted all application materials. A review of incomplete applications is made quarterly, and your file will be withdrawn from active application status if you do not complete the admission procedures.
Online Application Requirements
The BGSU Graduate Admissions page (including the online application) can be accessed via the Apply Now! button and will require the following five pieces of information.
1. Transcripts
Official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) work are required.
2. GRE Scores
Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores taken within the past five years are required. Target composite score of 800+ (or 280+ with the new GRE) on the verbal/quantitative portions. The GRE requirement is waived for applicants if undergraduate GPA is 2.75 or higher and graduate GPA is 3.00 or higher.
3. Letter of Application
This letter, written by the applicant, should detail:
- Why you have chosen this program at BGSU,
- Your work experiences since graduating with your Master’s degree,
- Your professional goals,
- Your academic strengths and personal characteristics that will lead to your success as a school administrator,
- The ways in which you will be an asset to our program, and
- Why you should be admitted to this program.
4. Resume
Include a copy of your most recent resume.
5. Three Recommendation Letters
A recommendation form will be automatically e-mailed to the individuals you submit during the application process. The letters of recommendation must speak to your potential for success both as a graduate student and as an educational administrator. These letters should be from individuals familiar with your professional performance. At least one letter must be from a current supervisor.
Administrative License Application
For those who are seeking Ohio administrative licensure in conjunction with the M.Ed., a completed Application for Administrative Licensure form is required.
