Dr. Neil Baird

Dr. Neil Baird is a professor of English and director of BGSU’s University Writing Program. His research explores writing-related learning transfer, specifically examining how students learning to write in the major and as early career professionals adapt prior writing knowledge and experiences. With the rise of ChatGPT in November of 2022, he has been exploring the impact of generative AI on writing transfer. During the 2023-2024 academic year, he partnered with the CFE to facilitate assignment design workshops, faculty panels, and an AI community of practice co-led with Chelsea Chandler. In 2024-2025, he will be facilitating workshops and two learning communities to help faculty design courses and course assessments that help students develop AI literacy.

Dr. Baird is serving in the generative AI Faculty Associate position offered in collaboration with the CFE and the Office of the Provost.

Amy Cook

Amy is a Teaching Professor in the English Department, working in three main areas: ESOL, LING, and WRIT. One of the things she enjoys most about teaching is that there's always more to learn, including through conversations with other faculty. This year, she is facilitating the Small Teaching learning community as well as a dialogue session about best practices for reengaging learners in our classrooms. Outside of work, Amy enjoys reading, podcasts, cooking (and eating!), and spending time with family and friends. 

Dr. Shelley W. Moore

Dr. Shelley W. Moore is a Teaching Professor and Faculty Mentor in the College of Technology, Architecture, and Applied Engineering. She teaches graduate courses in the Instructional Design & Technology major, and undergraduate courses in the Management & Technology: Training & Development field.  She plays an active role in the Quality Matters (QM) organization, which promotes quality assurance for online course design, and currently holds certifications as QM Master Reviewer and QM Peer Reviewer.  Prior to her role at BGSU, she served as the District Director of Teaching, Learning, and Academic Professional Development at Cuyahoga Community College; a Faculty Associate and Instructional Designer for Kent State Online; and as an Associate Lecturer in the Teaching and Training program at The University of Akron.  Her online courses integrate QM standards of best practices in online course design, and feature innovative learner-centered pedagogies, adult learning theories, active learning strategies, and authentic assessment. Her recent research has included the design and delivery of project-based learning in online courses.

Dr. Subha Nagarajan

Dr. Subha Nagarajan is an Associate Teaching Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Natural and Social Sciences at the Firelands Campus. She teaches undergraduate courses in General chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Firelands campus. Dr. Nagarajan uses inquiry-based learning approach in her classes with an emphasis on students’ developing process skills. This year, she will be facilitating a learning community on promoting student success through active and guided inquiry-based strategies.  

Her research focuses on the use of enzymes for synthesis of greener advanced functional materials. She also conducts research on the effectiveness of subject-specific acceleration in chemistry among gifted learners in elementary and middle schools. She is the recipient of the 2022 Elliott L Blinn Award for her work supporting undergraduate research and the 2016 Distinguished creative scholar award from the Firelands campus recognizing her scholarly work.

Dr. Audrey Conway Roberts, Ph.D.

Dr. Roberts is an Assistant Professor in the School of Counseling, Higher Education, Leadership, and Foundations in the College of Education & Human Development and teaches undergraduates and graduates in Educational Psychology, Assessment, and Research Methods. Dr. Roberts’ research interests focus on using quantitative measurement in evaluation and survey research so that data users can make informed decisions with valid results. She conducts research in both K-12 and higher education environments, using a variety of quantitative techniques. She is particularly interested in students’ and teachers’ perspectives of learning environments and how school decisions are made from this information.

Dr. Roberts is serving in the Faculty Associate position offered in collaboration with the CFE and the Office of Academic Assessment (OAA).

Dr. Melissa Yeung, Ph.D

Dr. Melissa Yeung, Ph.D. is the Director of Student Support and Belonging at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Bowling Green State University. She has extensive background working with international, first-generation and historically underrepresented graduate students in public universities.

Dr. Yeung’s research centers on racial equity within the graduate and professional school environment. Her work focuses on the experiences of minoritized students as they aspire to graduate study, how they navigate the graduate and professional school application process, and their sense of belonging as enrolled graduate students. Additionally, she explores how academic resources provided to students at the undergraduate level has an impact on their success in the graduate and professional school admissions process. Building on existing frameworks for equity-minded institutions, Dr. Yeung is also committed to building an equitable environment for students enrolled in the BGSU DPT program.

Dr. Yeung is serving in the Graduate College Faculty Associate position offered in collaboration with the CFE and the Graduate College.

Dr. Lisa Hanasono, Ph.D.

Dr. Lisa Hanasono is an associate professor in the School of Media and Communication, and she is an affiliated faculty member in the American Culture Studies Program and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at Bowling Green State University. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, Dr. Hanasono is committed to supporting the success of her students and colleagues. Her research focuses primarily on diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. She is particularly interested in studying how mentoring, supportive communication, inclusive leadership, and institutional transformation can support the success and career advancement of marginalized academics. This year, she is facilitating the CFE’s New Faculty Learning Community, and she is actively involved with the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).

Dr. Siva priya Santhanam, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Dr. Siva priya Santhanam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is a licensed speech and language therapist. Dr. Santhanam directs the Interactive and Neurodiversity-Affirming Communication Supports (INACS) program at the BGSU Speech and Hearing Clinic. The INACS program focuses on supporting autistic adults with communication and social interaction for successful academic and work-place skills. Dr. Santhanam’s research focuses on (1) developing and evaluating strengths-based social and communication supports for autistic adults that leverage their distinctive skills and special interests, (2) investigating factors that influence autistic self-advocacy in academic and work settings, and (3) addressing stigma associated with autism in families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Dr. Santhanam co-facilitated the CFE learning community on “Moving Beyond Autism Awareness: Creating Inclusive and Supportive Classes for Autistic Students” during the 2023-2024 academic year. She is passionate about student well-being and is a strong ally for neurodivergent students. As part of the CFE offerings, Dr. Santhanam recently earned a certificate in Effective College Instruction through the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).

Jennifer Stuart

Jennifer Stuart is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Applied Statistics and Operations Research Department in the Schmidthorst College of Business and a BGSU alum (’19). Since being a graduate student instructor while earning her MA in Mathematics and Statistics, Jennifer found a passion for teaching and learning. After graduation, she was fortunate to turn that passion into a full-time career at her alma mater. While in her current role, Jennifer has developed course materials to align quantitative courses with active learning strategies, served on the Schmidthorst College of Business’ Committee to Advance Teaching and Learning, and has worked on curriculum updates. Professionally, Jennifer is completing the last few requirements to earn an MEd in Instructional Design and Technology from BGSU.

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys supporting her student-athletes by attending BGSU sporting events with her fiancé and spending time with their Saint Bernard, Remington.

Dr. Victoria VanUitert, Ph.D.

Dr. Victoria VanUitert is an Assistant Professor in the School of Inclusive Teacher Education. Her research focuses on (a) developing training and interventions to enhance academic success and well-being of neurodivergent individuals (e.g., autistic, with ADHD, with learning disabilities) and (b) preparing pre- and in-service K-12 teachers and professors to provide inclusive, affirming, and effective learning experiences for their students, especially neurodivergent students. She co-facilitated the CFE learning community called "Moving Beyond Autism Awareness: Creating Inclusive and Supportive Classes for Autistic Students" during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Hamady

Dr. Carrie Hamady, Ed.D.

Carrie Hamady is a registered/licensed dietitian and the Director of the Undergraduate Dietetics Program at BGSU. She worked as a clinical dietitian for the majority of her career in sub-acute rehab and long-term care facilities. She has presented at FNCE, the Ohio NDEP Conference, and the CREATE Conference on innovative teaching practices and was featured in Today’s Dietitian for her use of Twitter in the classroom. She has also presented at the SCAN symposium and is nutrition coach for the Sports Performance Team. She serves as the Vice-Chair for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Nutrition Informatics Committee and is the group leader for the Nutrition Care Process and Research Outcomes (NCPRO) Committee for ANDHII. She serves the Faculty Affiliate on campus for the Presidents United to Solve Hunger (PUSH) initiative. She won the award for best innovation in dietetics education at FNCE, and the Faculty Excellence Award for Community-Based Teaching at BGSU. Carrie completed her doctorate in Leadership Studies at BGSU in 2019.

Dr. Elizabeth Olson, Ph.D.

Dr. Elizabeth Olson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University. Her research interests focus on topics related to diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Specifically, she examines the individual- and family-level impacts of social, cultural, and political climates. Dr. Olson has published numerous articles in the area of LGBTQ+ research under her previous surname: Holman.  She has served as the chair for the College of Education and Human Development’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee, and received the College’s Faculty Award for Excellence in Inclusion and Diversity in 2021. Outside of BGSU, she has also served on the National Council on Family Relations’ Inclusion and Diversity Committee, as well as on the board of the Feminism and Family Studies Section and the GLBTSA Leadership Council within this national organization. Dr. Olson is dedicated to advancing faculty members’ understanding of systemic oppression, particularly within the educational systems, and supporting social justice initiatives across campus to create equity in the classroom.

Dr. Angela Falter Thomas, Ph.D.

Dr. Angela Falter Thomas is an associate professor in the School of Teaching & Learning in the College of Education and Human Development at BGSU.  Additionally, she is helping with Ohio’s teacher shortage by serving as the Program Coordinator of BGSU’s Alternative Resident Educator Professional program helping those without traditional teaching degrees get started in the teaching profession.  Prior to coming to BGSU Dr. Thomas spent 20 years as a classroom teacher where she won national awards for her teaching.  She then earned her PhD from the Ohio State University and has been at BGSU since 2009. Angela’s research agenda focuses on improving teacher content knowledge and pedagogy to improve student learning, specifically, in English language arts.  She approaches this through teacher inquiry, teacher professional development and teacher preparation.  Dr. Thomas was selected to be a United States Fulbright Scholar to the Czech Republic and served for the 2018-19 academic year.  She also worked as BGSU’s Faculty in Residence at Keele University spring semester 2022.

Dr. Allison Goedde, Ed.D.

Dr. Allison Goedde serves as the program coordinator, lecturer, and advisor for the classroom technology master's degree program at Bowling Green State University. She earned her doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2006 from BGSU with an emphasis on educational administration and professional development with technology. She has been teaching in the BGSU School of Teaching and Learning for the past 8 years. Currently she is advisor for BGSU chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). Prior to becoming instructor with BGSU, she was associate director of professional development with Northwest Ohio Educational Technology Foundation located at WBGU. In addition, she has been a pioneer in the practices of online teaching and learning for teacher professional development and student engagement since 2004, and has earned Quality Matters rubric training with experiences as a course reviewer. Research interests include the alignment of higher order thinking skills and pedagogical practices with technology.

Jerry-Schnepp

Dr. Jerry Schnepp, Ph.D.

Dr. Jerry Schnepp is a technologist, designer, and creative problem-solver. He is an Associate Professor of Visual Communication Technology in the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering at Bowling Green State University. He teaches courses in Interactive Media, Usability, User Experience, and Digital Photography. He was also the founding director of the Collab Lab: a hands-on, creative space for students and faculty to engage in collaborative work. Dr. Schnepp earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from DePaul University. His research efforts are directed in several areas: STEM Education, Learner Experience Design, Technology for Online Assessment, Interactive Mobile Learning, Innovative Interfaces, and Computerized Sign Language Synthesis. He has developed and evaluated software to help educators be more effective and students to engage in deep learning activities. He regularly collaborates on projects involving cutting-edge technology and new applications. He is the recipient of the 2018 Elliott L Blinn Award for his work supporting undergraduate research and creative work and the 2018 Faculty Excellence Award from the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering.

Miller-Robyn

Dr. Robyn Miller, Ph.D.

Robyn Miller is a faculty member in the School of Teaching and Learning. She has been a faculty member here at BGSU in 2010. She has been involved in developing many different types of courses both face to face and online during her tenure at BGSU. She has also created several workshops for the CFE in the areas of multimedia development, website development, and gamification. She is also currently the lead faculty in the EDTL 2300 Educational Technology course as well as a faculty member in the Classroom Technology Master's degree major. Robyn holds a BA in Business, MA in Counseling, and Ed.S in Leadership as well as a PH.D in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Technology. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and four children.

Laura Sheets, M.S.

Laura is an Assistant Professor and the Interim Library Instruction Coordinator in the Library Teaching & Learning Department at Jerome Library. She collaborates with the School of Art, the English Department, and the School of Family and Consumer Sciences to teach information literacy and research skills to BGSU students and supports faculty and graduate research in those areas. Her research interests include applying Instructional Design and Scholarship of Teaching & Learning principles to information literacy instruction. She has published in the Journal of Media Management and College & Research Libraries News and presented at the Illinois Information Literacy Summit, the Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy, and the Tennessee Library Annual Conference. She currently serves as Secretary for the Academic Library Association of Ohio and an alumni mentor for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign iSchool.

Patrick Lisk, M.Ed.

Patrick Lisk has served as an IT Manager at BGSU for eight years and currently teaches Information Systems within the Schmidthorst College of Business. He has presented for the Ohio Inter-University Council, at the TeamDynamix User Conference, and for the Center for Faculty Excellence Teaching and Learning Summit. He holds certifications in IT Service Management, Project Management, and was a member of the BGSU Leadership Academy 2015 cohort. He received a Master's of Education in Learning Design from Bowling Green State University.
