JUROR’S STATEMENT
Congratulations and thanks to all the artists who participated, particularly to the emerging artists. It is an act of generosity and courage to make work and to share it. One can feel very vulnerable in doing so. What has emerged from your offerings is an engaging and wide-ranging exploration of the creative impulses found in the region.
In jurying exhibitions, the choices are always imperfect. Each work offers its unique universe to be explored. Selecting the awardees for this exhibition was particularly difficult. I looked for pieces that intrigued and beguiled. Many more works in the show do this than I was able to give awards to. It was after much time and consideration that I came to my selections.
I appreciate very much the opportunity in spending time with the show’s works. It was a great joy. I hope its viewers will experience the same.
