Dr. Baird Selected for Elon Research Seminar

Dr. Neil Baird was recently accepted into the 2019-2021 Elon Research Seminar on Writing Beyond the University: Fostering Writers’ Lifelong Learning and Agency. The research seminar received 122 applications, representing 16 countries and over a dozen disciplines. Over the next three summers, Neil will be collaborating with scholars from multiple institutions to conduct a multi-disciplinary, mixed methods study exploring how alumni transfer writing skills, experiences, and knowledge beyond the university. Data from this study will be used to design writing-across-the-curriculum programs more sensitive to transfer. While the exact methods of the study will be designed this summer, Neil anticipates forming an interdisciplinary team of faculty and graduate students at BGSU to learn about the writing of alumni through surveys and interviews.
