21st Century Englishes Graduate Student Conference Celebrating 5th Annual Conference
This year's 5th annual conference theme is Cooperating and Collaborating: Creating Community in the 21st Century and will take place on October 21, 2017, at Bowling Green State University. This conference, which invites graduates students from across disciplines, will explore what it means to collaborate as graduate students in their scholarship, teaching, and service.
In honor of the 5th year and with the theme of collaboration, the conference will host as the keynote speakers three alumni of the Bowling Green State University Ph.D. in Rhetoric & Writing program, Dr. Kerri Hauman, Dr. Stacy Kastner, and Dr. Allison Witte. Currently, Dr. Hauman is an Assistant Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, & Communication at Transylvania University, Dr. Kastner is the Associate Director of the Writing Center at Brown University, and Dr. Witte is an Assistant Professor of Humanities & Communication at Trine University. Their collaboration was fostered by the BGSU Rhetoric & Writing Ph.D. program and now continues in their academic career. They have recently published “Writing Teachers for Twenty-First Century Writers: A Gap in Graduate Education” in Pedagogy as well as presented “New/Multi/Modal/Visual/Digital/Media Technologies” at the Thomas R. Watson Conference and “The Language of Technology in Local Professional Documents and Local Contexts” at the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
Also in honor of the 5th anniversary of the conference, a multimodal call, featuring the collaborative process behind the creation of the CFP, was created. The committee launched a new website this year where the call and more information about the conference can be found. You can follow the conference and receive updates through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook at @21stCON.
Registration is now open for the conference. Register by October 6th for the early bird fee of $15. Standard fee is $20. Any questions about the conference can contact Lauren Garskie at lmgarsk@bgsu.edu.
