Auditions

Rhythm Section for all Jazz Ensembles (piano, bass, guitar, drums, vibraphone):
Monday, August 26, at 6:00-7:30 pm, Kelly Hall (Room 1012)

· Lead sheets and possible big-band parts with a rhythm section. Expect to read chord symbols and traditional notation, comp, and solo.

· Please arrive by 6pm and stay until the auditions are over.

Lab Band Horns (saxophones, trumpets, trombones):
Tuesday, August 27, from 1:00-3:30 pm, Choral Room (Room 1040)

· Scales

· Sight reading

· Prepared jazz etude or transcription

· Improvisation

· Saxophones 1:00-1:50, trumpets 1:50-2:40, trombones 2:40-3:30.

· Auditions heard in order of arrival

Chamber Jazz Ensemble Horns (all non-rhythm section instruments):
Tuesday, August 27, from 6:00-7:30 pm, Room 2019b

· Prepare an American songbook tune or a jazz standard. Play melody and solo.

· Auditions heard in order of arrival
