Slater Family Ice Arena News

In April of 2020, the Student Green Initiatives Fund approved a grant to the Slater Family Ice Arena to help purchase a new fully electric ice resurfacer from Zamboni. This new ice resurfacer will help the Slater Family Ice Arena save money and energy, while reducing emissions within the facility. This new machine, with its fully electric function, has zero tailpipe emissions and an AC motor that provides virtually no maintenance, longer battery life, and more reliability. This purchase, with the combination of the electric edger purchased in 2018 with the help of the Student Initiatives Green Fund, recycling initiatives, and LED lighting throughout the facility, continues to work towards the University’s Sustainability goal of achieving institutional carbon neutrality by the year 2040.
