Student Employment

The Slater Family Ice Arena employs roughly 100 students for a variety of different jobs and responsibilities.  Positions vary from weekly shifts as a Pro Shop Attendant or Zamboni Driver to specialized positions such as Learn to Skate instructors or referees for recreational hockey.  For a complete list and description of all positions see below.  Availability of each position varies through out the year and is dependent on the demands of each season.

Application Process

Available positions are posted on the BGSU Student Employment page through Handshake. For inquires regarding open positions, contact Luke Bodeis, Slater Family Ice Arena Graduate Assistant.  Completed applications and resumes can be submitted in person to the Newlove Pro Shop or emailed directly to lbodeis@bgsu.edu.  Applications are accepted year round, however, only reviewed during active hiring sessions.

*Positions that require proficient skating ability and experience.

Practicum Opportunities

There are also opportunities to receive academic credit for practicums and internships.  See below for a list of regular opportunities.  Additional opportunities are always available depending on the academic interest and skill set of the applicant.  Practicum positions are available during all three academic semesters; Fall, Winter and Summer.  To inquire about a specific practicum please send a resume and contact Laura Fischer at 419-372-8686 or dunnle@bgsu.edu.

Graduate Assistantships
