Dr. Cheryl Obregon is an Assistant Clinical Professor for the accelerated, hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). She transitioned to academia in 2015 teaching clinical reasoning and patient/client management in the School of Physical Therapy at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Her current teaching at BGSU focuses on patient/client management, musculoskeletal practice, and integrative pain science.
Dr. Obregon has a broad range of clinical practice experience with the last 18 years of her practice specializing in orthopedic management. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists and a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedics. In 2017-2018, she worked as a Research Physical Therapist with the Geneva Foundation at the Army-Baylor Doctor of Physical Therapy program focusing on running patterns. Cheryl is a 2022 graduate of Texas Tech University Health Science Center's Doctor of Science program. Dr. Obregon currently practices as an outpatient physical therapist for The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group and owns Endurance Physical Therapy & Wellness where she specializes in treating running athletes.
Dr. Obregon’s research interests include two-dimensional running analysis, running gait retraining, prevention of RED-S, wearable technology, and pain science. Additionally, Cheryl cares deeply about guiding the profession with concerns and interests of the LGTBQ+ community and advocating for an environment of visibility, respect, collaboration, inclusion, and equity. Her aim is to foster and create positive change for all LGBTQ+ patients/clients, students, and clinicians.
