How to Apply

Applying for Admission

The 2024-2025 admissions cycle for the Class of 2027 (to begin coursework in August 2025) is now open.

BGSU's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program uses a hybrid admissions strategy, admitting priority early action students in the Fall of the preceding year of cohort start and then on a rolling continual basis throughout the Spring.  Offers are extended from as early as December – April for each cohort beginning in the Fall.

*Applying early action does not obligate applicants to commit to BGSU; rather, it is an opportunity for review and potential offer earlier than the general pool of applicants. Those who apply for early action but are not selected for early review may be deferred for consideration in Spring with the general application pool.

Admissions and Application Procedures

Bowling Green State University receives applications through the Physical Therapist Central Application Service (PTCAS), provided by the American Physical Therapy Association. Applicants are advised to review the application instruction on PTCAS. Bowling Green State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program information can be found on the PTCAS Directory page.

Admission to the BGSU DPT program is a two-step process. If applicants are offered admission through their PTCAS application, they will be invited to submit a secondary application through BGSU Graduate Admissions. This secondary application is a mandatory step in the admissions process to BGSU DPT. If you have been offered admission to the BGSU DPT program, please use the invitation link via email to complete this step.

Application Deadlines and Important Dates

  • October 15 - Deadline to submit the PTCAS application for early action
    • Early Action Seat Deposits due January 16.
  • Please refer to the PTCAS Directory page for final application deadline.
    • All other Seat Deposits due within 2 weeks of Graduate College admission date.
  • Classes begin in the Fall semester for each cohort

Application Review

Eligible applications are reviewed holistically, within a competitive applicant pool, based on a combination of academic achievement and potential to contribute to a diverse learning environment.  More information about our evaluation criteria can be found on our BGSU DPT Admissions Selection Rubric.  The DPT admissions committee uses this evaluative process to ensure nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all applicants.

Applicants are notified by email regarding final selection decisions.  Offers are extended from as early as December through April for each cohort, for our cohort starting Fall 2025.

Please email our admissions advisors at dpt-admissions@bgsu.edu for questions related to the application process.
