At some point, you might ask yourself: Should I go to college? Is it worth it? Can I afford it? Those are reasonable questions, and BGSU Firelands has an answer for each: Yes.

Affordable

All new and transfer students who are eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant who enroll at BGSU Firelands this fall will pay $0 tuition—renewable for four years!

The Firelands Grant is a scholarship that covers the balance of a student’s instructional and general fees after the Federal Pell Grant is applied.

Increasing access to higher education by reducing student cost is a priority for BGSU Firelands. We’re BGSU—near you—so students here benefit from the supportive faculty and staff and integrated academic and career counseling unique to our University.

To be eligible for The Firelands Grant, students must:  

Enroll for 12 to 18 credit hours in an associate degree program on the BGSU Firelands campus in Huron for the fall semester

Have classification as an Ohio resident for tuition purposes 

Be eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant as determined through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  

How to get the grant:

1. Apply to BGSU Firelands
2. Have the FAFSA on file
3. Have demonstrated need. Those who qualify have the grant applied to their account.

If you don’t qualify for The Firelands Grant, you still have access to apply for hundreds of scholarships! Students enrolled at BGSU Firelands benefit from thousands of dollars awarded in financial aid each year. Coupled with already low tuition and fees, enrolling at BGSU Firelands offers the chance to earn a BGSU degree at a fraction the cost of a traditional residential university experience.
