Ashley Bansemer

Professional Biography/Profile

Ashley Bansemer is an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Director of Clinical Education for the Respiratory Care program at BGSU Firelands. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare from Florida International University, a Bachelor of Applied Health Science in Respiratory Care from BGSU Firelands, and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care Technology from BGSU Firelands. She joined the BGSU Firelands faculty in 2021 as an Adjunct, and later became the Director of Clinical Education in 2022. Focus and Expertise

Ashley Bansemer's focus is on providing high-quality respiratory care to the communities she serves. She is passionate about educating future respiratory therapists who play a vital role in treating patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Her courses primarily involve clinical rotations at hospital sites, including general floor therapy, pulmonary function technology, adult critical care, neonate/pediatric care, and alternate care sites.

Research Interests/Selected Publications

Ashley's research interests include best care practices in respiratory care, reducing healthcare costs, and technology in healthcare. She completed her thesis on "Type II Violence against Healthcare Workers."

Background and Engagement

Prior to her role at BGSU Firelands, Ashley worked as a registered respiratory therapist at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center from 2013 to 2022. During that time, she held the position of chief respiratory therapist from 2015 to 2020. She serves on various department and hospital committees, including the College Council, Capital Improvements Committee, Cleveland Clinic Higher Education Advisory Committee, and the Respiratory Care Advisory Board. Ashley is an active member of the Allied Health Group at Bowling Green State University Firelands College and holds a professional membership in the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Ashley has been married since 2010 and is a proud mother of two boys.
