David Krabill (1914 - 2003)

David Milton Krabill of Swan Creek Retirement Village in Toledo, OH died June 23, 2003. He was the son of Raymond I and Elizabeth Yoder Krabill, born July 8, 1914 on a farm near Wooster, Ohio. He attended a one-room school for 8 years, graduated from Sterling High School in 1932 a valedictorian and from Wooster College in 1936, Phi Beta Kappa.

He was a graduate assistant at Ohio State University while studying for advanced degrees. In 1941 he was granted a PH.D. degree in mathematics. He met Esther Drill of Greenville, OH in 1939 and they were married on August 31, 1940.

Dr. Krabill taught mathematics at Potomac State College in Kesper, WV. He was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve and taught naviations at USNR Midshipmen's School, Columbia University, NY from 1942- 1945. He was a mathematics faculty member at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, 1945-1946. From 1946-1980 he was a professor of mathematics at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green. He retired in 1980 and moved to Swan Creek Retirement Village in 1992.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children: James Richard, Raleigh, NC; Daniel Thomas, McLean, VA; Lawrence David, Wilson, NC; Carolyn Elizabeth Geiger, Fremont, OH; 9 grandchildren, and 2 greatgrandchildren.

Dr. Krabill was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Bowling Green, for 45 years. For 37 years he was a member of the church Administrative Board; Lay Member of Annual Conference for 4 years; Chairman of the Building Committee for construction of the new church sanctuary.
