TRIO Summer Link Program

A summer program for students in the TRIO Support Services program.

Aug. 10-22 | Early Move-in Required

A Tradition of Success

TRIO Programs are committed to helping students access and succeed in college up through college graduation and beyond.

TRIO Programs were first established under Title IV of the Higher Education Act as competitively funded programs under the U.S. Department of Education. BGSU became one of the first universities to host a TRIO Student Support Services program, starting operations in 1970, and won TRIO SSS funding competitions ever since.

The TRIO Summer Link program has been an optional early move-in program for new first-year TRIO SSS students since 2010. The goals of TRIO Summer Link is to (1) familiarize you with TRIO SSS and key offices and BGSU staff critical to your success at BGSU, (2) set SMART educational and career goals, including time management and organizational skills needed to achieve those goals, (3) develop financial literacy and financial aid awareness needed to better understand paying for college, (4) meet your fellow TRIO SSS students, including your TRIO SSS Peer Mentor, (5) engage in career and cultural awareness development activities through field trips to meet people working at places of interest to encourage students to think creatively about your career development.

In addition to the summer link program, TRIO SSS offers you:

  • One-on-One Support/Interaction with TRIO specialists
  • Personal/Professional Development Opportunities
  • Career and Cultural Events
  • Small class sections of MATH 1190, MATH 1220, and UNIV 1100
