In Brief: July 14
Calling young performers for ‘James and the Giant Peach’
Caryl Crane Youth Theatre will hold open auditions for its upcoming production of “James and the Giant Peach” from 9–11 a.m. July 21 and 22 in the McBride Auditorium at BGSU Firelands College. “James and the Giant Peach” will be presented Sept. 9-18.
All ages and types are needed for the production, which has roles for actors, singers and dancers age 6 and up. No experience is necessary. Participants must be between the ages of 6 and 18 by the first rehearsal on July 26.
Rehearsals will be from 8–11 a.m. weekday mornings, and select Saturday mornings until school resumes. Once school is back in session, rehearsals will take place from 5–7:30 p.m. weekday evenings. A full rehearsal breakdown will be provided at the auditions.
“James and the Giant Peach” is a delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, where a boy and his insect friends take an amazing journey across the ocean. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.
