Former TPS superintendent to speak at BGSU
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Dr. Eugene Sanders, CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District since 2006 and former superintendent of Toledo Public Schools, will speak about "Transforming America's Schools" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Bowling Green State University’s Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater. A former BGSU faculty member, his talk is part of the College of Education and Human Development’s Centennial Lecture Series.
Sanders, who earned his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from BGSU, was named one of the University's 100 Most Prominent Alumni earlier this year. He is a nationally recognized leader in urban school leadership and has earned a reputation as a successful CEO by guiding two of the state's largest urban districts toward unprecedented academic achievement. His 2010 Academic Transformation Plan for the Cleveland schools, titled "Whatever It Takes," has drawn national attention for its bold and aggressive approach to systemic change.
