Learn about firefighting, safety, at expo
Ever dream of being a firefighter? This Saturday (Sept. 18), you can see what it feels like to wear firefighting gear and learn about the job from local firefighters at the Firefighting and Safety Expo, from 3:30-6 p.m. outside Doyt Perry Stadium.
The expo is free, and guests may purchase half-price tickets to the BGSU vs. Marshall football game that begins at 7 p.m. There is a $5 parking fee for the event.
The expo will feature demonstrations of high-angle rope descents, a fire engine and ladder truck and the landing of the Mercy Life Flight helicopter at 4:30 p.m.
Hands-on activities for all ages include Fire Safety House presented by ProMedica, a Firefighter Survival Course hosted by Penta public safety students and Lowe’s Safety City with a DeWalt tool display. The Toledo Firefighters Pipes and Drums will perform a bagpipe and drum show.
The Firefighting and Safety Expo is hosted by State Fire School and BGSU’s Continuing and Extended Education.
