BGSU unveils ‘Century Trees’
BOWLING GREEN, O.—They witnessed Bowling Green State University take shape and come to life around them. As part of its Centennial celebration, on Friday, April 30, which is also Arbor Day, BGSU will unveil its “Century Trees,” trees that have been around for at least 100 years.
BGSU President Carol Cartwright will reveal the age of the oldest tree on campus. The event is at 10:30 a.m. on the lawn in front of University Hall.
BGSU faculty and staff determined there are 23 trees that fit the criteria. Each one will get a special banner announcing its “Century Tree” status and a placard at its base with details about the species and a number. Using that number, people can go to the “Century Tree” Web site to find out more information about a particular tree.
