Fredonia-Tuba-Euphonium-Ensemble,-Fall-2023-Christopher-R-Hotaling

The Fredonia Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble consists undergraduate and graduate students studying at SUNY Fredonia's School of Music. Students in the group represent a wide range of areas of study, including Music Education, Music Performance, Composition, and B.A. in Music. Dr. Christopher Hotaling, Fredonia's tuba professor, acts as conductor and music director.

The group meets weekly each semester, with the culminating experience being an end-of-semester performance. The tuba-euphonium ensemble functions as a space in which students can grow together and build camaraderie, as well as a space where students can step out of their comfort zones without fear of judgment. Using this ensemble as a space to perform on secondary instruments is encouraged, and several members of the current ensemble are performing on secondaries.

Another function of this group is to feature student compositions and arrangements for tuba-euphonium ensemble. We are proud to foster and feature student creativity whenever possible, as creativity is one of the core tenets of musicianship.
