Finnish Premiere of Louilarpprasert's Ptera for orchestra and sound objects by Helsinki Philharmonic

2025 UPDATE:
Dr. Louilarpprasert has returned from Helsinki after the premiere of his work Ptera. The link to the performance can be found here. The review of this work can be found here. What follows is a quotation from the review:
"Its anti-musical tones initially elicited chuckles from the audience, but these soon gave way to unreserved admiration for the piece’s highly virtuosic and unprecedentedly imaginative orchestration. The wind players fully embraced the opportunity to produce amusing sounds with their mouthpieces—this time with permission. The young Louilarpprasert, who was present at the concert, received the evening’s biggest ovation."
Under the curation of Tuuli Lindeberg, music director of Musica nova Helsinki 2025, Piyawat Louilarpprasert's, Ptera for orchestra and sound objects, will be featured in a prestigious concert at Music Centre / Musiikkitalo: Concert Hall, Helsinki. Conducted by André de Ridder, this performance is part of Musica nova, a biennial festival that showcases the latest in contemporary music and timeless classics to Finnish audiences. The festival is renowned for introducing composers making their mark on the international stage and fostering connections between contemporary music and other artistic genres.
In this concert, the festival delves into Networks, hierarchies, organisms, rituals, ecosystems, trust, dependency relationships. The music creates the intricate dynamics that emerge between individuals—like those in a symphony orchestra, where musicians collectively create a richly resonant musical world. Each composer in this concert, including Piyawat, brings a unique approach to exploring the layers of the orchestra, instrument groups, timbres, textures, and intonations, offering a profound reflection on the complex relationships within musical communities.
