This past semester, second year DMA student Stephen Eckert traveled to Chicago to compete in the world renowned Piano Competition of Orléans:

"For the 2024 competition, judges Maroussia Gentet and Wilhem Latchoumia traveled to Chicago, Orléans and Shanghai to hear 44 pianists compete in the first recital round. I competed in Chicago at Roosevelt University on March 16th in Rudolph Ganz Hall. I had a wonderful experience competing and appreciated the supportive and organized atmosphere that Roosevelt University and the Orléans team fostered. For my 40-minute recital, I prepared works by Franz Liszt, Claude Debussy, Olivier Messiaen, Tristan Murail, György Ligeti, and Zhou Long. Results are pending, and the candidates who will advance to the final three rounds in Orléans, France, in October 2024 will be announced in early June. I would like to thank my professor, Dr. Solungga Liu, for her wonderful guidance and encouragement in helping me prepare for the competition."
