The 56th Annual Symposium of the International Horn Society took place July 29-August 2, 2024, on the campus of Colorado State University-Fort Collins, and four students from BGSU were recognized for their excellence. Ethan Hupp, Phoebe Saboley, Nathan Stricker and Zoe Voelker, know by their horn quartet name 'CORNADO', won the second prize in the Horn Quartet Competition, up against horn groups from across the US and overseas. They performed three selections for a panel of judges who praised their stylish and exciting performance.

Phoebe Saboley was also honored by receiving a slot to perform in a masterclass for world-renowned horn soloist and teacher Radovan Vlatkovic. Vlatkovic was one of the Featured Artists at the Symposium, and is one of the very few full-time international horn soloists active today. With only three slots for performers in his masterclass, getting a chance to play for him was an extremely competitive prospect. Phoebe rose to the occasion and not only performed in the class, but received a standing ovation for her performance.
